Sculpting

Human sculpting is a process used exclusively on the Undefended Leader course to enable individuals to physically and spatial represent something of themselves and their story to a participant group.

The process works with the language of the course, notably the notions of each person having a personal ecology, a front and back stage and a landscape. Using these physical and spatial metaphors, Sculpting enables the individual to depict their internal psychological realities externally to both themselves and to to the others in the group.

This process seems to enable often, great insight, sometimes discovery and not infrequently breakthrough. It is as if people learn through the physical space, when their own verbal learning has reached its limits.

The Scultping process is always conducted in a group, in which the group becomes a therapeutic agency, offering to listen to, participate in, hold and offer back the Sculptor's story.

The Sculpting process has some resonance with Constellation work which has a growing reputation as a transformative group process.
