creating meaning

Visual Landscaping

Visual Landscaping is a kind of metaphor therapy that Simon developed out of client work between 1997-2005.

By enabling clients to create, inhabit, manage and explore their own personal landscape (an imagined world), the Visual Landscaping process allows clients to develop a high degree of self awareness and self management.

Like other processes that use symbolic modelling, Visual Landscaping allows clients to project their own psycho drama onto a symbolic world. It is distinctive in that it contains the shape of their space within certain boundaries which have consistent meaning.

Visual Landscaping exercises may be scripted to lead the client on a visual journey, or may, if lead by a skilled practtioner, be more open ended.

The process is used to support client coaching and development work, therapy and spiritual direction. Experienced practitioners in those fields may be able to be trained to become Visual Landscaping practitioners. Around thirty have so far been trained mainly in the UK but also in the US.
